The Creative Writing Course – Short Story is a six-lecture course that will take you on a journey through the world of short story writing. The course begins with an introduction that lays out what you can expect to learn, followed by a foreword that sets the tone for the course.

Part One of the course focuses on mindset, helping you to develop the creative approach necessary to create compelling short stories. Part Two covers the basics of short story construction, such as character development, plot, and setting.

Part Three, "Construction Time," delves deeper into the process of constructing a short story, providing tips on outlining, pacing, and structure. This section also introduces you to Scrivener, a writing tool that can help you organize and write your short stories more efficiently.

Part Four focuses on actually writing your short story, covering topics such as point of view, dialogue, and description. Finally, Part Five covers the submission process, including how to find markets for your short stories and how to submit them effectively.

How is the course assessed?

Upon completing an online module, you will immediately be given access to a specifically crafted MCQ test. For each test, the pass mark will be set to 60%.
